Welcome to the Andrew and Virginia Rudd Research and Professional Practice Centre

The Andrew and Virginia Rudd Research and Professional Practice Centre is a leading research-intensive initiative that uniquely engages state-of-the-art research methods aimed at advancing scientific knowledge promoting improvements to practice and enhancing policy development. The Centre aims to set new standards of research-led intervention and prevention-based innovation to improve the life chances of young people by supporting those that work with vulnerable children families and other groups.

One of the Centre's primary objectives is to engage and partner with community professionals/practitioners service providers family education and other professional practice and advocacy agencies as well as parents children families educators and policy makers (UK and international) to help share and embed Rudd Programme objectives and impacts within related research and practice communities with a particular focus on:

  • Family dynamics and young people's development
  • Adoption
  • Foster-care
  • Institutionalisation
  • Family separation
  • Domestic adversity
  • Care system and social care
  • Disadvantage and inequality

The Rudd Centre is participating in numerous knowledge exchange activities including our 'In Conversation' lecture series.
