Profile
Dr Claire E. Crawford joined the faculty as Assistant Professor in Education Policy and Practice. Prior to joining the Faculty Claire was an Associate Professor of Education at the School of Education University of Birmingham. Claire also has experience of teaching in schools and colleges of Further Education with a particular focus on the educational experience of disadvantaged and minoritised children and young people (aged 14-19).
Claire’s research interests focus on the critical examination of inequity in education. Her particular focus is on building critical quantitative social science methodologies to shape examinations of government education policies local practices and the structuring and (mis)representations of inequity in education at the intersection of race class and gender. Claire’s more recent work focuses on widening participation for care-experienced children and young people and youth transitions to higher education.
Claire is an Associate Editor of the international peer-reviewed journal Race Ethnicity and Education and is an Editorial Advisory Board member of the British Journal of Sociology of Education.
