Profile

Jan Schofield joined the Faculty of Education in 2012. She is a Senior Teaching Associate working in the Education Reform and Innovation team and coordinates a professional development programme and Kazakh internships in partnership with the Schools University Partnership for Educational Research (SUPER) and Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools. She is also currently involved in research informed systemic education reform in a range of countries.

Prior to this she was a member of the SUPER partnership teaching on the MEd programme and supporting the work of the network whilst continuing to work as an Assistant Headteacher at one of the SUPER partnership schools in Bedfordshire. She worked with Faculty and SUPER colleagues in Kazakhstan supporting school colleagues develop action research to inform their practice and was a trainer and mentor as part of the Center of Excellence programme.

Since gaining a Masters degree at the Faculty which included research with the UK Department for Education Jan has held a range of posts involving higher education and school partnerships with many education stakeholders. These include as an Additional Inspector with Ofsted inspecting Secondary Initial Teacher Education in Higher Education Institutions; as a practitioner researcher with the Teacher Development Agency; and as National Co-ordinator for Applied Learning with the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. The latter included research and development in applied learning with higher education institutions leading on High Performing Specialist Schools and as a member of the National Travel and Tourism Diploma Development Partnership Group and Expert Panel.
