Profile

I joined the Faculty team in September 2010 (on a part-time basis). This work has involved presenting seminars supporting trainees with their academic research and writing observing trainees on teaching practice working closely with colleagues in school and at the faculty to develop the skills of the trainees. Also as a personal tutor I have taken time to support trainees whenever needed; signposting them to extra support services within the Faculty meeting with them when they have needed pastoral support and generally keeping a watchful supportive eye during a very rigorous year. I joined the team believing that having had 35 years’ experience of teaching across the Primary age phase that I would be able to support the trainees in an academic and practical way. Having also been a senior manager in school; developing staff within the schools where I worked and still currently working in schools I hoped I would be credible and supportive. Above all I hoped to pass on my passion for teaching and enthusiasm for the challenges it brings on a daily basis. I have led in most subjects during my career and in recent years have had a particular interest in the importance of Equality Diversity and Inclusive Education British Values SMSC and RE (with particular focus on developing empathy and enabling children to be able to consider how they can learn from different religions/cultures how to nurture their wellbeing.

In addition to working at the Faculty I currently tutor Y5/Y4 children and work at Burghley House Stamford in the education department where I teach children from first-hand experience about the past (particularly the Elizabethan and Victorian periods enabling them to develop their historical skills and encouraging them to value their heritage.

Previous posts include acting Head teacher Deputy Headteacher class teacher teaching across all primary age ranges from Foundation to Year 6 across all National Curriculum subjects. I specialise in RE teaching and have taught Forest Schools. I have led in RE and PSHE and developed Equality Diversity and Inclusive education within a rural setting. I have developed a scheme of assemblies for the whole school. There are now regular visits in place to places of worship. I have developed the whole school curriculum with a local study and community interaction; organising events on a regular basis to build bridges with the local community. As a senior member of staff with extensive experience I have mentored and supported staff with a variety of roles (from staff early in their careers to Deputy Head).

Whilst teaching part-time I have been an Educational advisor for Nene Valley fostering Agency. I also worked for the Chief Inspector for Cambridgeshire supporting a new Head.
